Making the most of a class project
In the fall's first colloquium Friday, Nov. 6, former GIS certificate student Sarah Thompson presented the results and insights gained from her project,
Cow Manure, Stream Quality and Salmon Death. Thompson's work, which was partially funded by a 2009 ASPRS student research scholarship, showed what can be accomplished by a class project and its potential impact for the future.
GIS in Action: A Look Back
The PSU ASPRS Student Chapter attended our local GIS in Action Conference, April 21-22, 2009 in Vancouver, WA. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Portland State University Geography Department and ASPRS Student Chapter booth in the exhibit hall. We enjoyed meeting you. See HERE for conference details.

Clackamas River GIS Project
The ASPRS student chapter has collaborated with CORIBA, the PSU Geology Student Organization, on a volunteer project for the non-profit Clackamas River Basin Council that involves mapping the watershed for riparian health studies. The project revolves around weekly "work parties." Details on project continuation are pending. Thanks to everyone for getting involved thus far!
